Back with Grandma

No place in the world I would rather
be then standing back in time at my
grandmother's knee

In fields of green and apple trees
grandma's farm house was tucked
in between neatly as can be

Ten acres of country side where
deer loped and raccoons sneaked
the fresh spring water gurgling sweet

rubber boots we'd wear and hike
to the top of hill and watch
wheat gently blowing, such a sight

lavender lilacs dwelled near the
golden daffodils - orange poppies
smiled at the gnarly pear trees

grass stains became part of our knees
sniffing sea air floating through the air
picking cherries off the cherry trees

watching grasshoppers making great hops
finding tree frogs on the side of the pond
grandma's is where my heart has always belonged

Though I live on five acres at this time
the air here smells of roses and evergreen
my favorite nature spot stays in my mind

For peace and tranquility where only nature talks
sits gently in my memories of childhood
to grandma's acreage, where she used to walk

I just love this peom. It's very touching and so peaceful. I never really got to know my grandparents but I've always loved nature and the country side.  I've always wanted to live there and now I do.  One day I'll get a place that has as many acres as your grandma's place with a stream but that's all in the futur.  A heart warming poem. Just beautiful.

Thank you Kit and Kat  - gosh you two
should take up the poetry challenge of writing a poem togehter,  both of you
have similar thoughts and style from what
I have I read of each of your poems.
Search each other -- have fun.

Thanks again.
Sorry Kat about no grandparents. My boys
had only one grandmother and she is my
mom -  a nice grandma but not the warm
huggy type like her mother was --)

OH Gosh Darn, speaking of grandmas, I have
my first grandbaby due in about 2 weeks,
or less -- I am falling over in excitement!!!

Thank you netswan...I could picture this,

smell it and feel it all. Made me feel

nostalgic and miss the country....made me

yearn for memories of a gramma I didn't

have...But my Grandpa was so dear.

Thanks a lot for the sweet read.

You did great!
