 If only I had one wish to make I would turn back times tarnished hand I’d give you my heart to take I’d meet you again on the white sand But this time I would listen to you And hear all that you really said This time I would treasure you And follow close as you lead I’d hold onto a bit of me Not exposing the shadows within I would only permit that you see The pureness and not the sin I’d give you room to love Content with the space you crave I’d cherish the gift from above Finding peace with what you gave Or perhaps rein my heart So I wouldn't feel this pain To be strong when you depart Not crying out in vain If only I could travel back This time making things right If only I hadn’t lost track While bathing in your light “If only’s” are made for lost fools Sadly my wishes are much the same I’ll use faith and hope as healing tools But for now I will hold onto the blame |

Wow, you make ended love as beautiful as love itself. And that's a tall order!  My one minor gripe -- and it's not on the poem -- is the line about hiding the sin and only showing the pure. That's not giving your all to love; it's wearing a convenient mask so you won't be hurt. And believe me, masks are a biiiiiig waste of time! Enjoyed the poem immensely.Mike |

never hold on to the blame... leave it out on the curb along with the shame ... "IF ONLY'S" ...only weight down your wings time to look ahead and see what fate and destiny bring ... ------------ YOU KNOW I Love this poem..right? Mike* Thank you for your kind reply, and yes a mask only numbs the feeling of love, but in this case I think I would have been better keeping it on.
