If my life were one big movie Playing on the silver screen As if someone had followed me Recording every scene... Would I be proud to have it there So grandly on display Or would I hang my head in shame And turn my face away? If everyone were made aware Of what I am inside Would it give cause to loud applause Or would I turn and hide? If audiences sat and watched The character I've been Would they approve of how I've lived And treated fellow men? If they could have a chance to see My feelings deep inside Would they condone mistakes I've made Or how I justified? Would they admire my character And think I was the best Or just nod off and fall asleep Through lack of interest? The shameful things I've said and done I'd hate for them to see. Would faces wrinkle in disgust To see that side of me? Would they smile when I was happy? Feel sad when I was down? Laugh with me when I was funny All the times I played the clown? Would I come across as manly Like a James Bond or Stallone? Or just some poor, pathetic soul Who's always walked alone? What would the critics have to say In Entertainment News? How many stars would they reward My life in their reviews? Who would they get to play my part? DeNiro - maybe Cruise Or just some two-bit thespian Who nothing left to lose? How many days would "My Life" run? A week - or, maybe, two? Would it become a major hit Or disappear from view? Would I be proud to watch "My Life" And think it turned out nice? Or would I think it not well done, Unworthy of the price? There is one critic watching me. He's watched the entire show. Will I be worthy of His praise? In time, He'll let me know. |

Wait, you said Cruise, then you said a two-bit thespian. Are you repeating yourself? Enjoyed the poem. Mike |

I know I'd seen your face before! At the $2 peekshure show. Godzilla never looked better, As I proceeded to the front row. You were very impressive, The way you set everything alight, And then you looked at me and said, "Sir, will this seat be alright?" Hi ya, Michael - you wrote a great poem there - now all I gotta do is head to the editing room and try to snip some scenes outta my life's movie - thanks for the reminder (you dirty rotten dawg!!!). |

that was a wonderful performance, very clever and well written. There is a quote, Oscar Wilde I think, "Theatre is life without the drama". I don't even what the point of including that quote was. You see the thing about movies is that we are only shown parts of a character, as in life only parts of ourselves are revealed, except to loved ones, only they get the full show unedited. an excellent poem. The winnner for the best poetic life is Balladeer, please accept this oscar. and keep the speech short, and no crying that is Tom Hanks gimic. ------------------------ "I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else"-Richey Edwards "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time". Baltimore Grotto "Libraries gave us power Then work came and made us free What price now for a shallow piece of dignity" Nicky Wire, A design for Life. manic street preachers "Rock 'n' roll is our epiphany Culture, alienation, boredom and despair" |

Rosebud....yes, they surely do. Thank you... Doreen...who needs DeNiro if I can be your hero??? Corrine....Aw, you always know just what to say ! deVine one...thank you but the only Oscar I get has Meyer after it bsquirrel..what a low blow!! I can admire a comment like that! LongJohn...by the time you get done snippin', you won't have a movie...you'll have a "short" subject!!! netswan....I thank you for reading, my friend. Denise...thank you. a thumbs up is always better than a finger up, which is what I'd get from Toerag Severn...the movie isn't very long 'cause I'm still REAL young!!! Janet Marie...Darn! Thanks for warning me. I hate when that happens! Thanks for such a wonderful comment. James...it IS actually interesting to play around with. The next time you're alone doing whatever, pretend that there are thousands of people watching you and see how you change! Human nature is a wonderful thing. Thanks for reading.... brian....maybe that's why my ex-wife kept mumbling that she wanted her money back! Your point is well made, though. We may see a few minutes in the day of a character's actions. How is he the rest of the time? Thoughts to ponder..... |
