Sitting here today my mind wanders back
There was nothing I seemed to lack
I thought I had the world by the tail
Could not comprehend there was a chance to fail
The future looked so bright
After sharing with you that first night

Could not imagine in a million years
Today there would be so many tears
We were young and madly in love
Thoughts of you I put above
All other things that came up each day
I loved you wholly there was no other way

My gifts to you numbered many
Mind, heart, body, soul all full of plenty
Bursting with the love we shared
No way anything else compared
To my feelings for only you
They gripped me from out of the blue

Today, yesterday seems so far away
I am at a loss as to what I should say
Fate brought me into your life
But now that you have twisted the knife
It's time to choose a different path
And try to clean up yesterday's aftermath

Thanks to Jeffrey for the challenge.....keep 'em coming, my friend!!  Hope you liked this one...not easy to write and post for me.  Great theme though!!

a wonderful poem, I love it can be hard when a love turns sour not that I am much of an expert, though I have tasted its fruits once looking back I realised how blind i was, how I wanted it to be what it never could be.

a powerful poem.

It's time to choose a different path
And try to clean up yesterday's aftermath

not an easy thing to do, but a wise choice. I wise you well.

Lone Wolf,

Great piece!  I loved it!  I too hate when love goes bad, but I think that these kinds of experiences, makes our lives stronger.

Keep up the good work!

Brian...it is always hard when love turns sour.  Thank you for reading and for the wishes.  I hope you find love again.

Paris Grl...It does make us stronger and it happens for a reason.  Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Dark Angel...Thank you.  Just what is in my heart.

Lone Wolf,
Sometimes what is hardest for us to write is so cleansing to our souls.  I can tell this came straight from your heart.  Really good job.

You are wiser now and you know that love, like everything else changes...sometimes for the good of those involved, but sometimes to their detriment.  Good poem.

Made me think of the song, "To everything, turn turn turn, there is a reason, turn turn turn...."  Doors open and close so often...you have written a heart felt poem.  Well done!

~Awww LW,...ouch.  This is such a great expression,...it hurts to read that this has happened to you but it's also good to read that you realize it's time to choose a different path and clean up yesterday's aftermath.  Clean up your heart,..dust it off and let the light in.  I read your replies and you seem like a wise, wise person.  Things do happen for reasons and we need to live and learn and take what we need from each situation.  Great read. Thanks for sharing. *Peace.

Spit Fire...thanks so much and yes, they do happen for a reason.
