Late in the week and no one has called A swing set is here needing installed My daughter cries "Oh where can they be?" "They will get here, dear, once they are free For now spin around one hundred times You'll fly as a bird sing as LeAnn Rimes" Then I get guilty and tell her not so I look outside as she gives it a go Then I declare I might just not know how But God as my witness I'll do it right now Suddenly the fear gripping me ceases All that is here are just puzzle pieces Unafraid I think I'll do this with ease But the booklet's mostly in Vietnamese I call my friend he speaks it real fluent But he's been busted a fleeing truant So six months later spinning daughter Booklet comes for swing set I bought her She now walks with both her legs in limps From crashed down failure swing set attempts It is December we build ourselves fire And we talk about our swing set desire Then many weeks of wrench handle breaks I still have vowed whatever it takes Christmas Eve I lay with simmering guilt Santa will come and swing set'll be built Instead he gives tools, my girl a spinning top Into the night I hear laughter won't stop MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL WITH OBLIGATIONS UNMET I'LL SEE YA'LL NEXT YEAR HURRY AND BUILD THAT SWING SET Then from the starry sky falls a Cherub bum Who bestows my girl with equilibrium We swing in the spring with a gentle push From Cherub bum we laugh has a cute toosh We slide down the slide my girl says with pride Santa Claus ain't the man Dad you are inside And I say to her that ole LeAnn Rimes Never sung a sweet song like she has this time in a canyon in a cavern excavatin for a mine dwelt a miner forty niner and his daughter clemintine!!! yeehaw! ROFLMAO... Looks like Santa should've brought Dad some tools for X-Mas, eh??? Too funny... I can just picture you there waiting on the front stoop for the swing builder for 6 months too... |

Love this poem...made me laugh If I remember correctly my dad once built me a swing set (It took him 2 months to figure out how to attach the slide. ) and a week later a really bad thunderstorm hit and blew the darn thing away, he was so angry. |

I've been there. I recently assembled a tricycle for my grandson...when he pedaled the wheels wouldn't turn. Poor grandson had to push himself around the back yard until I finally got it going right. Now I'm assembling those shelves for the garage (why I don't know...we just dump everything on the floor). They are a b***ch to assemble. This was good, makes me feel less inept with regards to assembling items. |

This was funny, Walt, but also very sweet...I could see so much love in the humor. |

LOL, walt, this sounds just like my dad! We call him "Wrong Way Rob" because he puts everything together backwards or upside down when he does it. Awesome poem, I loved it! |
