I watch you from across the room As you light your cigarette The blue smoke swirls In front of your chiseled features I know why you’re here The same reason you always come You ask me how my day was Making an effort at small talk To make it seem like you care I tell you about my day As you watch me with those eyes I can barely look at you As I ramble on about nothing My eyes catch a glimpse of you As you unfold from the chair And slowly walk over to me Stopping in front of me I look away and close my eyes I feel your hands rub my shoulders As you whisper to me How much you care I wonder why I let myself fall As you place a soft kiss on my neck I try to resist your sweet words And soft caresses every time But I’m not strong enough To turn you away Hoping one day you’ll stay And hold me close as Your heart pounds and your breath slows And you realize that you belong to me And I was made for you But I am always left alone Tangled in the sheets As I watch you leave |

Interesting work. Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau" |

I enjoyed reading this...reminded me of a married man that has to go back to his wife...who of course he doesn't love because he's messing around...but he enjoys the safety of his obligation to return to her and the luxury of an adventure. James |

Thank you for all being so nice. I wrote this poem a couple years ago. Since then I have woken up..and moved on. I realized it wasn't meant to be. That's ok though because I am much happier now. |

Rosepetals, Glad to hear that happier times have found you. Liked your poem....so full of emotion and lonliness. Looking forward to more of your work!! RosePetals~ This was very well done. I enjoyed your thoughts. Glad you've moved ... but also glad you kept this memory of where you were. Thanks for sharing it. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
