The Green Swamp
~*Marge Tindal*~

Among the towering Cypress trees
greeting my morning stomp
Fowl and fauna of nature dwells
in the bayou of The Green Swamp

Headway waters of Florida's
underground aquifer abounds
Sending life to all in clear, cool sips
of water's surround

Cranes, Egrets and Foxes play
among the Elderberry on display
'Tis the place that I love to roam
this Green Swamp that I call home

Wild Blackberries on the bush
brambled-sweet delight
Oh, the sound of Crickets chirping
far into the night

Fragrance of Magnolia
lemony-nostril treat
Butterfly-laden Sawgrasses
trod softly 'neath my feet

Moonlight covers The Green Swamp
putting all to rest
Great Horned Owl nestles
little ones in the nest

I breathe in the beauty
Green Swamp in all her splendor
Thinking this is just the way
my forefathers did remember

I do all I can
to keep the majesty pristine
Remembering the legendary spirits
walking through my dreams

If you have a chance
and happen to come my way
I'll share the wonder of The Green Swamp
on any given day

Giggling here with heady delight ...
I live on Green Swamp Road ... so this
beauty is my front door and my back door.
I love it ... thank you for liking it too.

Lil' Lizzie~
It is a beautiful place to find nature at her finest.  I hope I've shared a little of myself with you ... wish you could see it through my eyes.

Isis~
The Green Swamp is a work of art.
One can easily get 'lost' in it's beauty.
The echos of many spirits walk her depths.

Joy~
Thank you ... that does 'say it all'.

Come on down !  There's always a stump to share with friends.
It is serenity at it's finest.

Rex~

If you go a'walking
in The Swamp at night
you'll never be seen again.

The 'skeeters' are so humongous
they'll pick you up and take you
where they want to for their feast.
You won't walk in The Swamp no more
when devoured by these beasts.

They buzz about like buzzards
I'd swear they're gators with wings.
There is no getting away
from these blood-sucking things.

Big man-eating "skeeters"
Weren't mentioned before....
Praps I'll think twice
Prior to taking the tour.

If I do visit this idyllic place,
I'd have to dress like an beekeeper!
And spray plenty of repellent too...
Hey, I'd look like the Green Swamp Grim Reaper!

Thank you for sharing this paradisical stop,
I enjoyed greatly my stay.
Now that I've seen it through your eyes,
From the "skeeters" I'll stay far away!!
------------------------------------

Hey, Marge, great poems! Those "skeeters" sound pretty blood thirsty to me....*scratching the massive bites they have inflicted*....how lucky I escaped alive! Er...next time before I check something out thru your eyes, please warn me of the dangers!! *scratch....scratch*
Hey, anyone got any anthistamine for me?

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Lil' Lizzie~
Now I wouldn't let the 'skeeters'
eat such a delightful morsel as you.
Cute, cute reply.
The Swamp awaits you.

Tracie~
In spite of the 'rumors' that
'skeeters' thrive on visitors ...
it is indeed an awesome place to be.
Thanks, hon.

Oh, I'm glad to have had the chance
to 'flip' your mind's coin.
The day rises mistily across the
meadow's rise to the lovely
blossoming magnolia.
It is a scent from Heaven sent.
I planted three on my property
and they are heavy with blossom
almost all the year through.

In the evening, mosquitoes
not withstanding, I can sit on my
back porch and see the fireworks
from Disney World compete with the stars.
It's awesomely lovely.
