Dealing with my feelings Has been hard on me, Tho' its a part of my make-up And my lot in humanity. I sometimes get to thinking If a machine I could be, Then from the flood of bad feelings I would be set free! With feelings there are struggles And strong emotional tugs, When caught out in the crossfire 'Tween all the Kisses and Slugs. With others around both pressing For you to take a stand, Can't there be Love for all-- Room where we all can? Some do play with your feelings And like to with hearts play games, Side with them--that's one point Or they'll dish out the blame! Why then, with my affection Must others be keeping score, As if it's "All or Nothing" Or slam goes the Back door! You see thus, why I'm thinking That machines have it made, Untouched by such draining emotions Which help make me what I hate. With just a flip of a switch They are at once, turned on, And the older & slower I get I'm thinking that just might be fun. But No, I'm not that crazy I'm blest with what I've got, I'd never be so willing To swap my given lot. For all the Good emotions Mechanical things don't know, And even with the hassles-- How blest Love's tender flow! So dealing with my feelings I'll have to re-assess, Those to avoid or ignore And those which serve me best. I must not wear them on my shirtsleeves But with heart and head to guard, Then dealing with my feelings For me, won't be so hard. "GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." (German Proverb) |

Oh how true this is! I too would choose to deal with my feelings than be a machine. Very well expressed.  ~Sheri |

deleeme, Your poem so full of the common nature or makeup of man.Weather we're dealing with humans or machines, just push the correct button or make good decisions and it will always be a win-win situation. If the door slams shut then it usually is a door needing closed anyway. |

I really enjoyed this Deleeme ... although we may revel in the highs of "positive emotions", I've often wondered ... could we possibly appreciate those highs, without having first experienced the lows? Wonderfully written and thought-provoking! Best wishes, /Kit |

Dear David: Wonderful poem as always. Sensitive people, of which I'm one, always struggle with this. I think God gave us feelings so we weould know we're alive. Good communication usually clears the air for me. There is alot to think about here. Ellie 02 |

Feelings.. Sometimes I swear my machine here has 'em.... Somehow I think you deal with yours quite well, David.. Nice work here.. I really enjoyed reading this one... I'm reassessing now..  |
