~ If Only Trees Could Hear ~ Through forest thick she walked alone noises all around her - Her path was lit by moonbeam only fear, it did surround her. She knew that she was being watched kept looking o'er her shoulder - Wishing she would stumble onto someone who would hold her... She'd lost her way & wandered far deep into this place - Cold and damp and so alone terror on her face. Her feet were bare, her dress now torn her hair a matted mess - So many evils all around her in this wilderness... Her tear-stained face so hollow now her faith & hope were gone - She'd wandered now for near a year where did she belong? So tired now, she found a place there upon the ground - To rest her weary body & to dream without a sound... Her breath it came in shallow gasps was this where she would die? Out here alone in forest thick where none would hear her cry? Her eyes they closed, a final time releasing one last tear - A final breath, she finally drew If only trees could hear... If only trees could hear... If only... -poetFemmeFatale May 28, 2000 "Fantasies enrich our lives to the fullest, but true satisfaction comes from creating your own story in the real world! Gen, if only people could hear like the trees do. . . This was a great poem, and I really liked the idea of the trees being able to hear our cries. . . ----------------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

What's this with your poems ending in death lately!? Eeeek! =) Very nice poem though. Sometimes you learn things by getting lost though ya know? A haunting poem, especially the last lines. Indeed, maybe trees can hear, but they just can't respond (in our frequency, anyway). |

And in the quiet and the still, One wandered slowly to her side. He found her lying there so still And feared that she had died. He touched her lips with his own His fondness for her clear And her eyes opened to gaze upon The one who held her so dear. **can't stand such a bleak ending...perhaps I"m too sentimental, non? I want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you who continue to uplift me with your words of encouragement. I know my poetry of late is taking many different turns and twists, not only in style but content. Since January, I've really been doing alot of soul-researching, and am finally growing to love and appreciate myself, so that someone else can too. I have found many uniquely wonderful paths inside my heart. Thank you for tolerating me as I explore my own depths. Love, death, passion, and dispair...all are vital. I love each and every one of you! Hope to be around more soon! Brother Robert - - Thank you for that lovely "uplifting" ending...actually, it's quite befitting for the real circumstances behind this poem. He did hold her in the end...and she didn't die. Miss you! "Fantasies enrich our lives to the fullest, but true satisfaction comes from creating your own story in the real world!
