Where Willows Weep ~*Marge Tindal*~ In the land where willows weep wind blows with a gentle hand The falling of the tears saturate the land The tears of many fill the streams where the majestic willow grows The salted waterbed grows deep with the lessons it knows She sways in uncanny unison to the beating of the wind She moves so gracefully never to break ... only bend Gently swaying to and fro as if to beckon - as if to say I hear your songs of sadness with your sorrow I sway Bending - bending swaying to and fro Gently returning to her posture after the winds do blow She reminds me of the structure of the clan of the Cherokee Standing tall and proud looking back at me Blown about but not blown down Beaten but never broken She speaks to the spirit within my soul of courage she is a token Standing beside her in all her majestic beauty Learning a lesson I will remember of life and of my duty To take the blows and return to my stature Straight, tall and proud I am an intricate work of nature She tells me what I need to know to use the sorrow I have found To reach out with understanding try to turn the world around The voices of many she beckons me to share Stories of the legends of my past to those who would care Returning to the roots from whence I came Reaching out to others I am known by the Cherokee name So softly spoken by my people on a long-ago day ~*Willow White Feather*~ Softly I sway ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Now, I never know what to expect from you... Most the time, I think of you as a "renegade" with a bow an arrow lying on a beach somewhere's in Flordia shootin' skinny dippers and tryin' to find new ideas to write about... Well, come to think of it, I'm Cherokee too... and that don't sound like to bad a thought if I do say say so... Good shootin' on this one Marge... |

Kit~ Oh, thank you for the nice comments. The images just come from sitting the Vision Quest and having the thoughts laid upon my heart by my forefathers. I'm really pleased to be able to share with my friends. (Thanks for noticing !) ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Willow White Feather--you are tall and straight, with your feet firmly planted in the earth and your head in the stars and you sway and bend like the willow with your loving heart. You have also written a magnificant poem! |

If I had an Indian name it might be "dances with Piranhas." But seriously while reading your poem I realised that I was no longer in room at my computer, but that I was standing at the foot of the weeping willow where I was "Standing beside her in all her majestic beauty Learning a lesson I will remember of life and of my duty" A stunning poem, it really touched my heart, a vivid beauty. Thank you for showing me "the land where willows weep wind blows with a gentle hand The falling of the tears saturate the land The tears of many fill the streams where the majestic willow grows The salted waterbed grows deep with the lessons it knows" ------------------------ "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? " Douglas Adams. "Here chewing your tail is joy" Richey Edwards "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time". Baltimore Grotto "Do not listen to a word I say Just listen to what I can keep silent" Nicky Wire |

PoetdeVine~ The winds of many generations have blown, she has swayed and returned to stand gracefully, until the next wind blows. Thank you for your gracious comments. Martie, my sister~ Thank you for understanding the Cherokee lessons in the dance of the willow. This proud Cherokee spirit does hold the hearts of others in her branches. Cradling others is the destination of this Cherokee known as ~*Willow White Feather*~. My grandmother said my name was meant to denote being light of spirit and capable of bending and returning to the stature of graceful elegance. I do try to follow the legacy of my name. Wado, Martie ... my friend. BrianM~ If my spirit transported you to the land of the willow ... my mission is complete for this day. I believe you would enjoy going to read the legends of the Cherokee people. *LOL at dances with Piranha's ... goodness knows the Native American Indians met a few of those in the anals of history. Thank you so much for your comments. ~*Willow White Feather*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
