Dreams There is a place inside the soul Where waking minds dare not go For fear of finding out the truth Exposing basic, lifes' bare roots Too much to comprehend Carnal knowledge pulled aside Showing how we feel inside Primal fear, joy sublime Interpreted to confuse What really do we have to lose By giving up the right to choose Allow direction from desire Images not understood Things seeming bad, things seeming good Things seeming what we'd hope to be Never meaning what we see Why, then so much attention paid Ponderings the days away Thinking places, we can't stay Harboring moors, drifting away Safety not held fast This special place where demons dwell Knights save the day from dragons' swell And kindred spirits soaring high Hand in hand how friendships fly Pow'rd by love that's undenied Power, powered, power to fly? Appearing from where we do not know Fear of things we dare not show Feel it, no, we dare not go Hold it, no, and watch life go Water comes from up above Cover up our heads from love Grounded from the sky, a shame To touch our hearts, came to blame Deny the past, to care again Control our minds to some extent Denial our sublime intent To mature, a way to vent Holding on to time well spent Only time for understood content Give in to childish fantasy This place grows, now more we see And come to know what's meant to be From our own self, the future we Held out for all the world to see A place we never understand Somehow guiding by the hand Hold on to all, as all may seem Played out in splendor in our dreams |

To live each day with the innocence of a child would be wonderful, alas I am too cynical but I do try. A wonderful poem, really enjoyed it. Welcome to Passions Jeff. Such deep thought and truth here! "There is a place inside the soul Where waking minds dare not go For fear of finding out the truth Exposing basic, lifes' bare roots Too much to comprehend" This stanza alone says so much! Well Done, I enjoyed! |

WELCOME JEFF! Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a device that could interput our dreams...but then the mystery and imagination would be gone! nice poem! |

Carnal knowledge pulled aside Showing how we feel inside Primal fear, joy sublime Interpreted to confuse What really do we have to lose By giving up the right to choose Allow direction from desire ------------ EXCELLENT WRITING HERE!!! very cool and deep poem... welcome from me as well jeff... you make a perfect first impression with this one... I look forward to more of your work, take care, jm Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. Some emotions run too deep to be described by words, Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard. ~Janet Marie~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... The world calls a butterfly" ~Lao Tze Tao~ ~Butterflies are meant to be free~ |

Hi Jeff, This is a difficult poem to follow but I think in that respect it mirrors our dreams. I especially like your thought to allow direction from our desire. To me it means to act on our intuition, as difficult as that may be sometimes. I think you could improve this poem by working on the syntax a little. Keep up the good work. Mark |

welcome Jeff, I really enjoyed your poem, I know exactly what your saying. Sometimes our dreams do really say alot about us. Or should I say our unconcious mind that we sometimes try to push aside. |

Jeff- WELCOME! I'm new too..and these folks here are wonderful to respond, you'll love 'em! Not to mention, just look around and read some and you will know you are in great company here. I love your poem. I believe strongly in dreams being your inner voice that we all stiffle while awake. I really enjoyed this work...very nice! -Holly I know well what I am fleeing from but not what I am in search of. Michel de Montaigne |

Nice dubut my friend... welcome to Passions. If you write like this your going to rock people right out of their chairs. If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name.
