A Withered Heart

From whither my heart lies
within its dreams
of nights of enchantments
and days of romancing

From whither my heart dreams lie
within a world of cozy hopings
that into the night lost upon
the rising moon

And withered, my heart lies
broken and shattered
as a mirror on superstition
and the moon fades into dusk

The sun rises, and my heart
lies torn in a myriad of ill shapened pieces
within the pain of long lost love
and schemes of unrealistic dreams

From withered my heart shall grow
a strength to brush myself off
into life's precious days of which I sow
Yet, growing fewer as they pass on

And I shout to the skies
leave my heart be, for I only
have one to give and that one
was not free

Then in a haze of misty eyed days
he walked in like a cozy fire
and cast upon me to trust again
and I laid my heart at his desire

Trusting upon him like a loyal dog
my eyes full of hope and I left
the shattered one behind upon
my breast

And now from withered my heart
I lay my throbbing pain
risking a new start
repaired and untouched by
that long lost lover

Oh so emotional!  It is truly a gift to find a new love after the heart has been broken.  Great poem!

How wonderful that you have put you heart back together again.
Even more, being able to place it anothers hands!
This was beautiful netswan.

netswan,
Ouch to your story.  So sad, yet touching in the sincerity of your feelings.  Great ending, my friend.  Wonderful writing!!
