Believe

Thoughts to paper
Rhythm to rhyme
Fear to failure
So, I believed

Mind and muse
Heart and soul
Pencil and pen
Because, you believed

Poet in progress
Confidence in me
Power in poem
Now, I believe

Marina May 2000

This poem is dedicated to a very good friend. Without his encourement to get me to try writing poetry, I would never have written a single one.  He believed I could do it, long before I.

very cool M-girl...
when another helps us to discover a gift
that we posses inside our selves...
it is very special and changes us forever.
I too was given this gift by another poet...
so I understand how amazing it can be.
perfect tribute, from the heart.

They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

I love this and relate to it so very well, it was only through the "prompting" from a friend that I ever found passions and finally found the courage to post some work here.

Marina, I can relate to your feelings here in this poem, I also with the help of a friend found a special talent within me. I'm no expert yet, but I enjoy doing it.

I think you did a great job with this poem, I like the way you laid it out.

Wonderfully said Marina ... those friends who give us confidence to try, are the most wonderous gifts imaginable. This is a lovely poem and tribute to that special friend.

Best wishes,

Well if memory serves and it does not always in my case. You had such a desire to take apart a poem and find the hidden meanings so why not try and write one...... and you did,
was it "the Messengers of God" maybe.
Well it just goes to show you add a little encouragement and presto.... instant poet.
The real truth is that you finally believed.
Thank you for this kind dedication.

netswan, thank you.  It was very inspiring for me to write.

Angelwings, I don't think you can get rid of me that easy now!!LOL  Thank You.

Sven, It was the one and only time i have ever listen to James! LOL.  I am just kidding. Thank you for your compliment.

Kit, you are very right..thank you.

Jan,EagleOne and LD.  I am really glad that you guys can relate to this.  It is a wonderful feeling to something, you never dreamed you could.  Thanks to all of you for comments and compliments.

Marina

James,
Yes,I can definitly vouch for your memory, but.....as I recall, it was you who convinced me to try to write just one you said.  I believe you said I challenge you to write something easy like a Roses are Red poem.  Then I started trying to write The Messangers of God.  I also recall you spending hours with me on the phone while I wrote and rewrote it.  Even when I got frustrated with myself, you always told me I could do it. You always believed in me.  So for that, I thank you.

Your friend,
Marina

Wonderful poem, I think we all need encouragement and support to write and if not to write then to show our poetry to other people.

I heard a quote on the radio on a show about poetry, I can't remember the exact words but it was something like;

whatever you express is poetry as long as it is an improvement on the blank page.

Douglas Adams.

"Here chewing your tail is joy"

Richey Edwards

"Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time".

First of all, I would like to thank Haleyja (James Parker) for encouraging Marina. I enjoy all her poetry, and she is definitely getting better every day.

Now, Marina, Girl, this is fabulously written. Definitely one of your best

Brian, thank you and I loved the quote.

Terry, you are such a sweetheart!  You are have to generous with your compliments Sir.  Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

Jeff, you have always been very supportive of my poetry from the begining, and for that I thank you.
As for James.......I am sure there are days when he could kill me for bugging him for his expertise and advice!
