Have I Told You I Love You

When I think of you,
I think of all the beautiful things
I've ever seen,
all the wonderful sounds
I've ever heard,
all the gentle things
I've ever touched.

When I see you,
I see all the loveliness of the world,
and I know that all the birds,
the animals,
the plants,
the seas,
and the sky,
are but a reflection of your smile.

When I touch you,
my whole being is caught in the rapture
of the most tender experience
my senses have ever known.

When you speak,
I want to sit and cry,
as if it was the first sound I've ever heard,
as if my ears were created for that end alone,
for there is no sound I love more.

But have I told you I love you?

Have I spoken the words,
said the things you need to hear.
Have I showed you
the things you need to see,
given you the warmth
you need to feel?

Have I let you touch me
in the way I'm touched by you?
Have you felt the fires
of my desire,
the heat of my passion,
the love
in my soul?

Have I told you I love you?

I love you today,
tomorrow,
yesterday,
in a way that words
can never say.

W. James Beard, Jr.

This is great. Just what I needed to read today. Sometimes we take things for granted. Thank you!

I enjoyed reading this...oh yes, what is love if we don't feel it, and breath it, and express these feelings.   James

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Wow.  I am surprised.  I almost didn't post this as I wasn't sure it really worked correctly yet; and there are other pieces I've posted that I liked much better.

I really, really, thank all of you for your kind comments...not only on this, but all my works posted in Passions.

I read an awful lot of the works in the various areas and feel so overwelmed at times by the power, and beauty I see, not just of "love" poems, which love and soul-ache, are my favorites to write, but of all the the different types and styles.

Sometimes I have to wonder...what else is there to say; how else CAN it be said; how many ways can you say one thing...then I read another piece and, by gosh...why didn't I think of that!!

Again, thanks a million...

JWesley~
It matters not 'how' you say it ..
as long as you say it often.

You sure found the words with this one.
It works !
Just lovely.

'Have I let you touch me
in the way I'm touched by you ?'

Well, you've sure touched me
with your thoughts.

This is such a beautiful poem, one of the best I've read

Your words are exquisite, your soul I touch and see, Your heart speaks to me through
your poetry....

I have had the same thoughts as your statement above, sometimes I have wondered..is there any thing, any more that I could do to show love, how deep? how wide? what lengths? and just when you have felt as though youv've squeezed the last drop of love from your soul, you find the answer, YES there is more...love is a growing, non-ending thing...or so it should be...

Your poem astounded me with so much emotion and deep feelings...I will be watching for more of your love poems...
