Have you ever stopped and pondered
why things occur as they do?

Why often on a good day
you receive bad news?

Why when you really think you've done well
you suddenly get told to go to hell?

Why when you feel like you're on cloud nine
you think life is going fine
Someone so rudely puts you in your place?

Is it to keep us in reality
from going off on fantasies?

Is it to keep us grounded here on earth?
Or to remind us of true life?

Does it really make us stronger
that which does not kill?

Or is it merely a test
put here to keep us in our place?

We go on taking each separate blow
Never really stopping to cry or show
the true hurt that we incur
from the daily tests we endure.
