this is hard for me to write about, and right now this is the best I can come up with....sigh...might do me good to write more....so will think more about it.... damage report we played we laughed we watched cartoons we sat in the sun and did nothing without fear we pretended and did what normal people do until you came home and then we didn't laugh we didn't play and we pretended even more and today the years find you calmer and us still pretending it didn't happen pretending it didn't affect everything we say and do |

How simply put, but how poignant! Funny isnt it, how sometimes families conspire..without words to sustain the illusions and facades of the past. Well done. Thanks for writing this. i know how hard it is to write about something, esp when you have done your best to forget, or pretend it didnt happen. Corazon, I think it an excellent example and post for our cause. It is indeed simple and that's what makes the message so clear! Thank you for contributing and posting. Challenge well met. Marina |

The most difficult thing to talk about sometimes brings the most healing when it is. Well done!! |

and us still pretending it didn't happen pretending it didn't affect everything we say and do ------------ C, this is excellent, you said it all and said it well... denile...it is always an ingredient in pain anmd cycles unbroken...but it is a normal, human defense mechanism as well, take care, heal as you write, jm Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders And it makes me want to touch you there. And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |

well this poet sighs deeply and says thank you...this has been a very deeply thoughtful day as I have read so many of these touching sad poems...my heart is heavy with grief for the abuse I am helpless to stop...even for the one that was me.....sigh |

You certainly brought the point home in a poignant manner, Corazon. At the risk of sounding flippant, which I am certainly not trying to be, this poem could be entitled, "The Silence of the Lambs". Wonderful writing. |

Good writing, thank you for sharing this. And I know just what you mean...I've had to come offline several times today while reading here. Let us find healing in the sharing. ~ Claire |

Corazon - this is simply put and I feel that you probably have a million words to say ---and yet, you did it great! This is touching and breaks my heart. Thanks for sharing netswan |

This is a very to the point piece of writing that is true of families and also in a broader view denial is an attitude prevalent in communities, neighborhoods and churches,"those sort of things wouldn't happen here". People seem to think that it is the down and outers and people on the other side of the railroad track, where that sort of thing goes on, when in truth it has no social boundaries. It is the person you sometimes least expect. |
