Where’s Daddy? How can you break his heart again? How much hurt will you bestow? I wish I could erase the pain That he’s too young to know. A child shouldn’t hurt this way, Feel his dad’s rejection. If a mother’s love is so strong, Why can’t I protect him? If only you could see his eyes When he sees that you’re not there Maybe then you’d understand How much he needs you to care. He always scans the crowd When the spotlight shines on him He smiles when he sees me, But the light in his eyes is dim. He’s searching for his daddy, Whose boy he used to be Never finding your face, His gaze then falls to me. I hate you when I have to watch A part of our son die I can’t be his everything No matter how hard I try. Although I love him with all my heart, There are limits to what I can do. Those times when he needs a father’s love, That’s when he needs you. |

Angelwings, if you were in need of this type of poem tonight, then I'm glad you found it. I wrote this as a Father's Day gift to my exhusband a few hours ago. Our oldest son graduated from Kindergarten yesterday and he missed it. He has yet to attend a T-ball game (it's our sons first year playing). Every time Philip gets on base, he looks for me, to make sure I'm there watching. Then he blows me kisses. It kills me to see that look in his eyes, the panic on his face when he can't find me. |

Tara~ Such a poignant piece. Your little guy will always remember the 'angel' face that cheers him on. Keep it smiling so he carries it in his heart. Count what he's got and what you've got ... that's what really matters most. *HUGS* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Janet Marie, thank you. More than likely my ex will fail to see the message in this poem. It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |
