Which Face?

Which visage would thou choose to weep for me?
Which face to serve said purpose meets its end?
And would thou also cry on bended knee
To pray such prayers on which my soul depends?
And would thou smugly sit and nod assent?
Aware too well of downfall close at hand.
For shameful lack of heeding counsel sent
Spared not your souls the pity this demands.
Why then should one attempt to live their life
And ponder over anxious word or deed?
When guidance leads to banishment of strife
While others plot and plan the life you lead?

Forgive me for such blatant arrogance
And show me please which path to follow hence.
