Like dew with coming of the dawn-
So quickly fades away….
So goes the romance of our lives…
With the passing of our days.

As grass is green and tender-
In the early days of spring-
Those memories fade, as Autumn-
The threat of winter brings.

And while the wind is raging-
Our moorings part, and we…
Are driven by the tempest-
With no more control than leaves…

As they hasten to oblivion…
Before the icy blast…
Likewise, our aspirations…
Are doomed; they cannot last.

“Why is that”? someone asked me.
What purpose are our lives?
Which seem to end before they start”…
But friend, just realize…

The question needs no answer-
I’ll leave you with this thought…
Instead of always asking, “Why?
Just ask yourself, Why not”?

Slinger~
My friend, this is brilliant.
Had a JFK, Sr. kind of moment to it.

The title alone brought me in, Gunslinger,--
one of my favorite questions---the smooth of meter kept me enthralled--deceptively simple, but not, just like the question--why not?   Thank you, m'cowboy/man....

A premium attached to the questions asked. leaves a lot to ponder about. Of course, Why Not?

Great poem, Gunslinger.

That in an art gallery is left hanging,
Though many come just to look at it,
A very few actually come to enjoy it.
