   Wild Sweet Ride

Winding was that road dear
when we let our hair fly
and I capped the soaring fabric
and you grew shaggy
and we stopped and fished
and then ate grilled trout
and it rained almonds
and sealed onions in foil
perfumed the rooms from open windows
priceless gems on those days when
we honeyed with the moon
and sat naked on the porch
and listened to the river
where forever played
and entwined our hearts with songs
so sweet that to this day I can taste
you in the tune and bring back
when I bent over the rail
and hung my hair wet and unclothed
into the sweet pine of the air
and you said that there was gold there
and I just smiled
when you took my picture
and brought me wild flowers for the table

and so we began this wild sweet ride.

You have an extraordinary way of making your readers feel as if they were there in the places and times you describe.  I am in awe of that talent...this poem was wonderful!

Oh, Martie, oh, Martie, oh, Martie!
Wonderful love story!

Thank you for bringing me another taste of the times from yore.  Dale and I might have been splashing nearby, near an old abandoned mountain bridge, thirty years younger, nude in the sun, long hair flowing, building a dam innocently in the swelling creek like children?  Ever those years will call to me.  And rarely do I see anyone write of them.

Lovely imagery!  Absolutely lovely.  And I especially enjoyed the vision: "I bent over the rail and hung my hair wet and unclothed into the sweet pine of the air and you said that there was gold there" and while I read this, I felt the magic in the air.

Wild sweet ride, indeed!  And may we never forget!

Beautiful, my dear friend!  Exquisite!

Marge--seems to me I recall you nekkid in your front yard, was it gardening..well maybe not nekkid but...that deer was there for that one too.... Love you sweetheart!

Rosemary--Oh, I'm so glad you liked this...you know you and Dale and the poems of your love just may have inspired me...give him a hug for me.

Martie,
Christina hit the nail on the head, you do indeed make the reader feel a part of the action. And this is such a rare talent.
Why, Rosemary even thought she was there in a nearby stream! Getting a little carried away, wouldn't you say?

Ther must be something I've misplaced here. I seem to have had some kind of memory lapse, what poem am I responding to anyway..? I do recall a some picture... Honey, is this your poem or Martie's... or was it just the "60's" I haven't gotten lost like this since I can't remember... Got any clues..?

It's a jewel Martie...
