Magpie forages, regal in black and white stripes, treasuring garbage. Fat squirrel slaps tail, chirping territorial, balances on wire. Old oak tree stands broad, strong and stately yet fragile, home to woodpeckers. Rotting swing hanging, echoes of children’s laughter, long ago singing. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

Wonderfull Haiku, I really liked the meaning in the last one. Reminds me of an artist that paints with ghost shadows, memories of the past. Parker |

Corinne~ This is just wonderful ! You've captured the very essence of Haiku. I happen to be very fond of this piece. Wonderful images spring to life. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Oh Corrine, I didn't know a a haiku could be done in stanzes. I love this. This puts a new light on Haikus for me. Full of imagery. netswan |

Thank you, Marge, I've always loved Hiaku, but find it is most challenging to write, to say a lot with so little and to have some element of nature and surprise. Thanks, Netswan, well, technically, they are four separate Haiku! Corinne |
