Michael's sections are in purple.

I feel it at times,
the Sun.
A warmth on my face
luring me
calling
Reaching deep
into the soul
burning
the very essence
of my being
A feeling I recognize,
beckoning me
Yes, I know her by name
and always she calls me
but never, never do I answer
why?

A feeling
        warmth
caressing the soul
in touches light
and
        feath’ry soft
comforting the mind
with healing lilts
of
laughter
and balmy sighs

~happiness, fleeting~

The sun sets
beyond me,
leaves only the chill of Night,
and yet,
her whisper
lingers in shadow
reaches through this
self created Darkness
pulls at me
challenges me
to step forward
dares me to believe
yes, I know her name
but still, I fear her

Fear not
       nature
The change of things
and chances
taken, given

Take hold ~ forward
steps
although with
trepidation
embrace the joy
nurture tenuous
       skeins of
hope
to grow and
flower
       anew

I’ve wandered endlessly
Searching always
never trusting

        Search not to
              hide
        your deepest joys

I can no longer hide,
i see it
the sun of a new horizon

        Dawn upon your
              deepest dreams
        let hope hold
        and heal

I feel her arms around me
tender, loving
Alas, I fear no longer
I know her
She is "Hope",
and she is mine

WOW---what a fine piece of poetry!!  It just flows so smoothly and takes the reader through such a range of emotions.  Beautiful words, beautiful song sung between you two.

Amazing!  I am floored by this poem.  Excellent job, you two.

"her whisper
lingers in shadow
reaches through this
self created Darkness
pulls at me
challenges me
to step forward
dares me to believe
yes, I know her name
but still, I fear her"  and

"Fear not
       nature
The change of things
and chances
taken, given"

I think those are my two favorite parts.  They really echo some things going on in my life.

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Nicole,
I just want to say what an absolute joy it was to collaborate on this poem with you.  It is seldom two people share such unity in thought, much less are able to put it into verse together.  In reading this, it's clear your verse brings the whole piece to life.  I found that to parallel life in a strange manner.  I want to say thank you for being such an inspiration and true friend to me over the past few months and for helping me to focus on what lies ahead - not what has been left behind.  In this manner, you have helped bring me back to life.  You are a wonderful writer, I hope to have the chance to do this with you again soon.

I apologize for this taking so long in replying, but I couldn't let it go without thanking everyone for each and every lovely reply.  Michael and I had a good time writing this, and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out!

Michael, you sweet man.     Stopit!  M'friend, I believe that it is the collaboration of the minds of two very good friends that brings this piece to life.  (Okay, nah...it was all you guy!!  lol)  Keep the hope alive, she'll do ya good.

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.
