I’ll break the iron
With the strength of my beak
Let me take you
To this place that you seek

Come with me
Caged bird that sings
I am your Eagle
Come ride on my wings

I’ll open my wings
And carry you high
I’ll show you the beauty
Up here from the sky

Your majestic dreams
In my talons clutched tight
I won’t let go
Until your feathers take flight

Towards the sun
Surfing its warm rays
Riding the wind
Like the oceans serene waves

Spread you wings
Show your feathers of fire
Hover for a moment
Before you feed this desire

You have the strength
Now be off of my wing
Fly by my side
And together we’ll sing

Soaring high
In the peaceful breeze
Over silent beauty
And blue tranquil seas

Dancing free
In this wide open space
Feathers flowing
As you glide with such grace

No longer caged
And released from my wing
Bid your farewell
And let Freedom Ring

This was read by a dear friend of mine and it was misinterpreted.
So just to clarify things now, this was a poem writen to a friend,
from a friend. A poem about a friend lending a helping hand...
or in this case wing!

Irie~
What better image than one strong 'bird' helping another.
Friendship helps us soar.
Well said, poet.

Sheri, this is a beautiful poem... and one should never have to disclose the meaning behind their poetry (my opinion anyway).  I loved it.  We could all use a little help now and again.  Here's to "true" friendship.

Marge....Friendship indeed helps us soar!
Especailly when you have friends that inspire you.

Netswan....I guess it is a poem about love...
a love for life. I'm always there to help when I can.

Michael....Thank you so much for your kind words. I think true friendship
is hard to find these days, but I seem to be
finding a lot of friends here at Passions.

Thank you all for your comments

Sheri dove, i think this bird would want to soar beneath your wings in that sancity of space where freedom breathes.  This was a wonderful response to the one I wrote.  Thank you for writing yours!
and for your kind responses,
Danny

Irie,
this is wonderful. . . the image of helping the bird out and showing it how to fly by flying with it. . . powerful and excellent!!

This is one of your best, keep it up!

Danny....I'm glad you enjoyed this.
Keep up your good work and maybe I'll continue to
be inspired.
And Thank you for your comments as well.

Sven....I'm one of those that likes to help out in
anyway I can. But Shhhh...don't tell anyone, it might just
ruin my "Iron Skin" image! hehe

Thank You both for your replies....You're all very sweet.
