Are you my mom tonight? If I need you,...will you come? down the hall,...to where I'm from. This safe haven room of mine where I write, sleep, AND dine. Are you my mom tonight? Have you the strength to care for me? Have you the eyes for my pain to see? These walls protecting my all, Confining my helpless call. Are you my mom tonight? Have you the hands to gently touch, this girl who's scared and loves you much? Have you the ears to hear me cry? Have you the sense to know the reason why? Are you my mom tonight? |

~Thanks for your reply. Not your typical Mother's Day poem, but it was my situation. Thanks again. |

Spitfire, im sorry you know this pain, thank you for the reply to my poem. dont feel like you to apologize for your poem. you cant write a "typical" poem if your situation isnt typical. Just like standing in the card shops at holidays and birthdays... I use to pick up and throw back so many cards trying to find one that was appropriate. the mushy sentimental ones dont alway apply. but sometimes time and communication can create change. your lovely poem speaks to that.. good luck, take care, jm It's amazing How you make your face just like a wall How you take your heart and turn it off How I turn my head and you lose it all ... And it's unnerving How one move just puts me by myself There you go just trusting someone else Now I know I put us both through hell ... I'm not sayin That there was nothing wrong I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me And I'm not sayin We ever had the right to hold on I just didn't wanna let you get away from me. ~MB20~Leave |

Spitfire, you've just written one of my favorite poems. Very touching, very warm, and vividly shows one never loses that link to mom, no matter where we are, or how long we've been gone. Mom's are unique, we always seek their warmth (physical and spiritual), and they are always the first and the last name we call. I am a father, and am extremely close to my children, and although I know my bond with them is as perfect as I can attain, I know I will never have the same bond with them, their mother has, and I envy women that! Mother's are wonderful creatures, and I adore them all, and I think your poem very much a mothers day poem because it plainly expresses the love and the need we all have for our mothers. Thank you for it... j. |

~J....thank you for your kind response to my poem. My mother's warmth (both spiritual and physical) is indeed what I was yearning for. |

I was pretty much put to the side, growing up. I was the only boy and mom didn't have much to do with me, I grew up wild, as they say. I had ask this many nights with a whisper from my room, for my mom to come down to the basement where they put me. It was a cement hell. You are not alone kid, even in the final moment of death the strongest men cry out for mom. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |
