My 'Other' Kid
~*Marge Tindal*~

I raised four children
of my own.
Now they really
are quite grown.

Just look what
I went and did !
I found myself
an 'other' kid !

Her name is Tara
She loves me in every way.
She moved right in
my heart to stay.

I found her on a hill in a little town,
soaking up the sun.
She fell in love with my little puppy.
Our friendship had begun.

We shared a day of laughter.
We shared a coke and ice cream.
I swear, that Little Tara,
was every mother's dream.

This young teen
from friendship's well has sprung.
I love it cause
she keeps me young.

We've been friends
for well over a year.
I find that Tara
has become so very dear.

Beautiful pieces of herself
she gladly shares with me.
I thank her mom and dad
for letting it be.

So on this day
set aside for others,
I'm glad she calls me
'Other Mother'.

A mother-daughter relationship is hard enough to establish with a biological link (As I know all too well), so it's always amazing to see situations like this. Consider yourself lucky!

Marge--

This was beautiful and so full of compassion. You and Tara are both indeed very lucky. You have a rare bond and should hold onto it. Through your poetry...I have come to know you. You have a heart the size of Texas and enough love for the world. You rock!!

Take care,
Amy

Marge, the next time you take your little puppy for a walk on that hill, would you let me know so I can find an "Other Mother" too.
Lucky Tara to find a person such as you!
You must have a heart as big as an ocean!
I'm sure all your admirers here in Passions would like to swim in that ocean.
Sweet poem,
dh

That was truly beutiful and it had a great ring and catchy ending, it really toughed my heart . I am glad that the person in the poem (you ?) was able to re-live a fond memory of the past, I think this is one of the most important things to us all in keeping nice memorries at the front of our minds . Nice poem . One of your best .

Lizzie, love~
I gotta admit - I graviate to every little heart I meet.  I wish you were here ... I'd give you the biggest hug !  *HUG*

Amy~
I thank you.  I just find it so easy to give love - and goodness knows it feels so good to know you've touched a life.
I get more than I give.

TerryW~
Tara has paid me a wonderful compliment with her chosen nickname for me.  Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Danny~
COME ON DOWN !  My Toy Pomeranian and I go to the park every weekend .. she's a natural born flirt ... (too)!

Tom~
Tara is 12 and is such a delight.
She writes poetry too.  She uses me for all her school projects ... we've always received an A+ so far. Tee-hee !

Sunshine~
Yes, I think you're right.  Her parents realize that we've bonded and they know I've got her best interests at heart.
I've always told Tara that she can tell me whatever she wants ... if I think it's something her parents should know ... I'll tell her first and give her an opportunity to tell them first.
Such a cute story happened ... she wrote and told me she needed to tell me something ... but, would I tell her parents ... I reminded her of our agreement .... she then told me she found cigarettes in her mom's purse and her mom had told them she'd quit smoking ... I suggested she tell her mom ... she did.
Mom now wears the 'patch'.  And Tara takes full credit for 'monitoring' her.
So cute !
I'm glad you share your daughter with an 'other mom' ...

Marge, simply wonderful and inspiring. When it comes to friendship age has nothing to do with it.  We can always learn from others.  I do know who is more lucky here...you or she.  I truly enjoyed this poem.
