For Marge The wind shifts, buffeting its echo in my ear, matching the rhythm of my heart beat matching my steps 'cross the grasslands my spirit is beside me in the eagle's screech, and the prick of the rose's thorn. The white man does not know the land, only what he takes from it; he does not know the center of his universe, only what he makes of it. When the wind shifts he knows not what the animals know and he does not listen to his heart beat, nor does he walk 'cross the grasslands no spirit is beside him and although the eagle screeches, he only sees blood when the rose's thorn pricks. I sit beside the water's edge touching the mountain's wealth of winter's splendor come down to me. The white man does not know the water, only defecates in its bounty, thinking only to cleanse himself in purity. Karilea~ Of course, I love it. My spirited friend, you drive the memories across the plains ,up into the mountains and across the sky ... soaring into my heart. At peace with the thorns which fall from the graceful stemmed rose, I soar in unity with the coming of the legends of the past. With eagle's eye I can see that a change is coming ... a change is coming. The memories careen across the plateau of this place. Once again ... abundant, clear water shall flow across this land. When the White Buffalo Calf is returned ... lightning will flash and thunder will rumble ... it will be so. *Thank you for thinking of me. Martie and 'Deer...I think you were both psychically correct... Marge, would you laugh if I told you when in CFG, my Indian name meant "Friend..."?... Kit, your challenge is to write something along this line...we will all watch for it...because I can see you feel this way too, Nan, that is high praise indeed, and I humbly thank you for it... |
