Victims Once when I was very young I fell underneath his spell he wove me into his spider web 'til I found I was rather dumb Oh, how my heart burst in two when I found him in her bed She was my very best friend and I wished they were both dead For a long time I blamed myself for losing my very best friends I just wanted a wedding ring before I gave him all love brings They decided to be a pair and so in a few weeks they wed and through the many years they were busy jumping from bed to bed Now I am glad my heart has healed for it was never theirs to steal Life has lots to gain and lose unprotected sex they did choose It was just last week that I heard and I realized their selfish ways and their silver tongued woven lies that those two are going to die I hadn't thought of either of them not once throughout several years now I can't find a single tear for what used to be my best friends They made their BEDS and so they die they managed to shorten their lives How many others did they spread AIDS? For all their victims - I shall cry netswan Teresa King www.tipsfortop.com |

Such powerful words you have spoken here. Yet their victims are somewhat responsible as well. All my love, Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep |

really??? wow... geesh... what an eye opener... this is... harsh reality... and well written, netswan... if this is based on real life, then... all i can say is... you've done an excellent job portraying what happned... and if it is based on writing for fiction.. then...i would say... you've done a great job bringing the reader into it... all in all... it brings truths to light and makes the reader think... good work! |

Teresa, After an eye opening talk with you I can see that my first comment is not completely correct. The babies spawned by the people truly are at no fault. Please forgive my ignorance. Swan, this is very good, and makes so many good points. The issue of Aids is one of much concern to me, I have lost several friends to this ugly illness and know others who are positive. So many times the assumptions as to how they became infected seems to become more important than offering compassion. And as always in life...the innocent children become the victims of adults mistakes and poor judgement. For me personally being the mother of 2 teenagers...the most frightening issue of this is the numbers of teens and college age young adults that are constantly growing as the newly infected population...though they have been inundated with education on this and have alternatives readily availble that past generations did not... the message and lessons seem to be... "lost in the moment" So many questions...so much pain... well I ve gone on long enough... once again, as in previous poems about important reality issues... this one shows you have your "finger on the pulse" and are trying to offer solutions. thank you for offering a place to make us think and be aware. later-swan-gator jan |

Very powerful words, Netswan. A disease that may end our existence on Earth. Thank you for sharing with us this poem. Love and hugs, Lizzie "Poetry is the true expression of my soul, it is my ultimate means of communication. It is my rainbow of delight." |

Thank you -- Jeff - Pandora, JM and ESP -yes, this is strong subject. Jeff --no need to apologize. -- It is not just babies born with AIDS it is married couples where one is cheating and the other doesn't suspect -- that person becomes an innocent victim -- It is teens who take chances at an age where they feel invincible -- AIDS is dangerous and it is spreading FAST The big issues are -- not only educating the children -- but in educating the parents of the teens -- Our town hands out Free condoms --- Some parents get angry saying it is giving mixed messages (here is a condom - but wait 'til you are married) STILL -- I would rather give a mixed message then have these young kids dead. One decision on a teens part to drink a beer can change their whole mental state. JM - I am sorry about your friends that you have lost to this deadly disease. I have three sons the youngest is 17 - My sons have been taught about these things ---and it has been one of my biggest nightmares worrying about AIDS -- you can't believe the teens in this town CONVERSATION with a 15 year old --"I have only had sex with 12 boys" -----Makes you want to cry. And worse, their mother's think these girls are totally innocent of these activities --- I think that is really sad. Thanks for the comments -- all of you. netswan |

Excellent writing...and an important message for all of us to consider lest we all get caught up in thinking we are Cassanova's or butterflies. James |

Excellent netswan. . . Hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it? Call it Fate, Karma, you get what you pay for. . . and in this case, you got to see what happened. . . you were spared that agony and disease, you built for yourself a better life. . . it didn't seem like it then, but you do know now don't you? And for that, I am glad. . . A lesson to all of us. . .just because it seems bad now. . .doesn't mean that it's going to be this way all time. . . what's that line? "Just beacuse He may not answer doesn't mean He don't care. . . some of God's greatest gifts are Unanswered Prayers. . ." Bravo to you my friend. . . ----------------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |
