There was no creature like the flying squirrel Whose antics made my toes and fingers curl. With Bullwinkle, his buddy on the show They taught me everything I'd need to know. Their wit was unsurpassed. They were the best. Their moral lessons far outshone the rest. Peabody's looks at history made me roar Cracked Fairy Tales would put me on the floor! With popcorn hands and Kool-Aid lips I sat To watch them battle Boris - dirty rat!!! Now forty years have passed or maybe more Yet still they are as funny as before. Feel free to take Durante, Hope and Berle... The king for me will always be the squirrel. |

I love it, and I remember those adventures. Maybe one day I will attempt a Sonnet but I doubt I can succeed like you did. |

Hey, I remember Bullwinkle and Rocky! And those fractured fair tales too! A blast from the past! They were the best, weren't they?! As for your sonnet....the liberties that you took....maybe we can just call this the 'Balladeer Sonnet'...create a new form! This is delightful!! My smile for the night was in this, and I have now made it a point to go in search of at least one or two or more a day. I watched the cartoon, but probably not when all you guys watched it. Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau" |

Well, of course a SQUIRREL has to reply to this. Cool poem, Bal. It reminded me of moon mice, upsydaisium, stolen box tops and lots of other things that, when I say them aloud to my friends, get empty stares. One of my favorite parts was always the closing music with the lights that went with the drum beat. Mike (and if you're wondering how I could possibly remember a show that was on the air years and years before I was born -- long live reruns!) |

Balladeer, You can mine the next time I find them flying in my house. (caught 5 so far) But they are the coolest rodents. Great Sonnet P.S. Though I would let you know they love peanut butter. |

Thanks to all for joining me on my little trip to the past. Rocky's writers had the sharpest wit I had ever seen on TV, especially to a ten year old. Don't worry, Toe. You're still a VERY close second! How are ya, big guy? |
