Searching through the many books lined up there in a row - Old fairy-tales beneath the dust some read, but long ago... I briefly skimmed through many there alas, I put them down - Still searching for that special book I continued with a frown... 'Twas then a book fell to the floor there at my very feet - I picked it up,"How odd", I thought and took it to my seat... It's cover, oh so handsome - brownish leather, threads of green... An intricate design thereon no finer, had I seen... I sat back in my chair and slowly sipped my cup of tea - This gorgeous book there in my lap beckoning to me... It seemed to whisper to my hands "Open me, my love..." So I turned the page & slowly read no clue, the contents of... 'Twas as if I'd stepped into a land of mysterious allure - What pulled me in & held me there, I really wasn't sure... A voice within the pages sweetly beckoned me along - To explore the depths & realms therein, didn't matter right or wrong... The story led me through a maze a labyrinth of soul - The pages were his heart, and as I read it made him whole... To look thereon the pictures, was to see deep in his eyes - As my hands caressed the pages turning - I could hear his sighs... I wandered through, quite overwhelmed this land of wondrous power - Breathlessly in ecstasy I lost track of the hour... His voice my guide, his touch my map I delved into him deep - This storybook of sweet allure my reading, made him weep... I found my way into his soul 'twas then he handed me - A fragile token of his love to hold eternally... I fell asleep there in his arms our journey just begun - He kissed my lips & promised me he'd wake me with the sun. * * * * * * * * * * * * I felt the warmth against my face too soon, the morning came - I'd slept all night there in that chair calling out his name... The book lay open in my lap the pages were all blank - Realizing now, 'twas just a dream my heart & hope, both sank. But then I noticed in my hand I held a fragile flower - The token he had given me to remind me of love's power... - I had forgotten. * * * * * * * * * * * * * by poetFemmeFatale May 3, 2000 [This message has been edited by poetFemmeFatale (edited 05-04-2000).] |

Netswan - - You picked up exactly on why those pages were blank...very good dear! That was a little twist I threw in without really even knowing it. LOL Jeffrey - - I curtsie to you... Thank you much! This "story poetry" is all new to me. It's a style I've just very recently picked up. My poetry seems to be far better now - although unfortunately, much lengthier! I was telling my muse earlier tonight, that when I begin these stories, I only have one thought or idea. I never know where it's gonna take me, or how it's gonna end. It's funny, and kind of spooky.....(nervous laugh) As I begin writing, the story just "happens", and before I know it, I've got another darn LONG story poem! ROFL Anyways...I'll hush now. Thank you kindly for enjoying my tales! *curtsies* |

Yes, you are getting better (is that possible?). I enjoyed this poem - the story and the heart behind it. Hang onto your muse if this is the result of having it around! |

Well now, I don't know if I should be replying to this one or not... Kinda touchy when it comes to giving flowers you know? You poetry continues to grow Gen, and you story weaving is magnificent, though. Even for someone who doesn't pay attention to flowers... Michael |

Gee, would you consider lending the book out to a few of your "passionate" friends? Lovely tale you've woven for us, just the kind of dreams I like. Corinne |

Loved it, was very easy for the eyes. Each line had you wondering what would come next. Loved the similie of the book becoming reality. |

[sigh] You are God sent I swear! I really like this new style of poetry you've developed for yourself lately. Mixing in a fantasy/story with the poem... makes for a VERY captivating read... They're longer, but they're sooooo good it leaves me wanting more! =)< !signature--> "Don't let your character get camoflaged with your environment.
