Circumference There surrounds the two of us a certain soft wrapping of comfort when we speak. The neatly folded knowledge and touseled trust of acceptance. The taste and sound of the corners of our mouths turning upward in smile together, at just the right time. The import, the ease of caring, of unwrapping ourselves to one another in safety. The pulling together of head, sideways, to shoulder, and tender release of emotion within ensuing embrace. The satisfaction that whatever I happen to share with you will be of value, simply because it is shared and placed, with tenderness, within the circle of our "us." Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

This is a beautiful portrayal of 'that special connection', Claire--your words always flow so gracefully, I do admire that. |

Marge...thank you...this was written for a very special friend. I'm glad the words I used to describe our relationship touched you. Corazon...thank you so much for reading and letting me know you enjoyed this piece. James...thank you. This is a celebratory piece, of sorts, for me, for trusting has never just "happened" for me. With this particular friend, there is no question, for either of us. We just "are" and I cherish that. Thank you for reading this. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Claire - what a wonderful poem! It really reminds me of the relationship that I have with my beloved wife. I could especially relate to this phrase: "The import, the ease of caring, of unwrapping ourselves to one another in safety." Pamela and I had both been hurt a lot in the past, before we found each other...so we truly savor the wonderful gift of safety that is just one of the things that makes our relationship perfect. Thanks for this wonderful, touching poem, my friend! Troy Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Poetry http://www.h-systems.net/p1.htm |
