Storm Upon the Lake All night long, I heard the pound Of waves crashing and the ground Seemed to tremble neath my bed, Till I finally rose and sped Outside to see the awesome sight Of storm upon the lake, at night. Great, ragged clouds were racing by. The moon revealed her lucent eye And in the wind that swooped and roared, A thousand feral sounds were poured. There was excitement everywhere. A tumult of the earth and air. I sat upon a rock, away, From all the heavy splash and spray And melded with the atmosphere, To wait for daylight to appear. Light and shadow patches played Upon the water and they made A world of unreality. The only anchor there, was me! Betty Lou Hebert [This message has been edited by Trillium (07-10-2002 01:52 PM).] |

You are an exception. Most women I know are afraid of violent storms. Your description is vivid and so real. Well done. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
