Catawba tree stands Scattering ugly cigars Catalpa worms wait For a taste of young green leaves Fisherman awaits his bait June's pond is ready Fisherman's gathered his bait Unsuspecting fish Swims playfully in water One bite, he's a fish story |

This is really cute. I'm not acquainted with the Catawba tree. Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (edited 05-28-2001).] |

Catawba Tree, is also called Indian Bean Tree or commonly referred to in some places as "Cigar Tree". It is not a good tree to plant in your yard as it strews long bean filled pods all around it. In May or June worms crawl up the trees to eat it's leaves. These worms are favorite bait for many fisherman as I am told Blue Gill love them. |
