If the songbird should lose it’s sweet song and silence descend heavily upon the land should we ask it to fly away never to return or treasure the melodies of a joyful past Should we mourn the passing of it’s lyric and launch it into the sky on golden wings a funeral flight befitting it’s magnificence forgetting forever the beauty of it’s notes Or embrace the echos in the deepest soul revering it’s symphony with a wistful nod murmuring gratefully for each treasured memory of the songbird that sang to the heart the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

This is a poem to be treasured, as well as the lovely song from a songbird. Deb |

Dear G. This is a much lovelier way of saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water." There is more to the bird than its song. Thanks for the reminder. Joyce |

Pegasus~ How lovely this morning song~ Lifting of spirits felt in the thoughts~ 'embrace the echos in the deepest soul revering it’s symphony with a wistful nod murmuring gratefully for each treasured memory of the songbird that sang to the heart' I could not help but think of the 'songbird' in the hauntingly beautiful 'Skylark' ... oh, what memories you've stirred on my stage of orchestrated memories~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

pegasus111: I think that even if birds were mute, we'd still enjoy having them around and make up songs in praise of them. Betty Lou Hebert |
