Solo Ruby dawn and an angry sea. High waves that want to swallow me. Why am I out here all alone And shouldn't some old salt have known A storm was brewing out of sight? I barely made it through the night. The race has started and I know I have ten thousand leagues to go. My boat is strong and so am I. Though yesterday, I said good-bye To all my friends and family, Not sensing how hard it would be To sail away, not knowing when We'd be together once again. I think that other craft than mine Are battling the wind and brine, But there's slight chance that I will see A glimpse of them as on I flee And only God above can know If I'll survive my first solo! Oh you shouldn't be out there alone Betty. But I guess we all have to sail these seas alone. Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (02-23-2002 11:07 PM).] |

You're right Joyce and you wouldn't catch me out at sea in a sailboat!! I was reading about an around-the-world race that's going on now and trying to imagine what it would be like to be alone at sea. Betty Lou Hebert |

ellie: Thanks for reading. I suspect every sailor considers God his captain! Betty Lou Hebert |
