How do I? |

How do I tell a boy of six His world is caving in; His daddy's gone and though we cry, He'll never come again? When he looks at me with wonder And says, "Does dying hurt?" And I know this child's been hurt beyond repair, Do I tell him of the sorrow that will never go away, Or just hold him close to show how much I care? When he looks at me with worried eyes, And asks, "Will Mommy die?" And I do not have the right To deny this, do I try? "Dear little one, God loves you, You will never be alone. Climb up here on my lap, we'll say a prayer. We'll ask Him to take care of Mommy, you and Sister too, And Daddy up in Heaven with him there." I don't tell him that the tears I shed Are for the little boy, Who sat upon my lap so long ago. A boy who looked much like him, With the same dark trusting eyes. No, I cuddle him and let the teardrops flow. By Joyce 02/16/02 [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (02-17-2002 11:54 PM).] |

Dearest Joyce; My tears flow with yours and my prayers are of asking that he comfort you and yours...with love and caring; Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Joyce: My heart is sad for you and this made me cry. The children are so vulnerable in a situation like the one you are going through. They need constant reassurance, as do we all. Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Ellie, Thank you for your kind words. We have all been trying to find the right words for our little boy. Hannah of course, is her sweet, happy self, at one. Love, Joyce |

You are being very brave. This is a beautiful testimony to a mother's love. When he is older, please share it with him and he will know the depths of your heartache. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time Joyce. |

Ahhh, Joyce. You have had more than your share of heartache. I believe it has made you a better poet than you might have been. Hugs......."and this hurt also will I tuck into my bag of heartaches, for there is no other place to put it." the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
