Parting Thoughts
I would give up everything I own,
to spend one more day with you alone

to see you smile at me that way,
and fall into those eyes of grey

and hold your hand in mine at night,
as moonbeams dance in pale delight

walk slowly on those sunlit shores,
and plan those silly little chores

touch your face, your hair, your skin,
and feel your soul so deep within

this need, this ache that gnaws at me,
would dissipate if I could see,

the future and all it’s mystery,
that someday you would be with me

so just one more time before I go,
to that final place we all know

I bless you my sweet lady fair,
for all you gave, for being there,

in those last hours, a precious few,
my arms in darkness holding you,

the love you gave so tenderly,
to such an ordinary guy like me

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
