Late that night, near firelight
Snowpaw and I both shared my pipe,
a smiling, smoking, tabby.
Who'd have known?

We made smoke rings, grey and blue,
She taught some magic that she knew,
of how to see the ones,
we hold most dear.

In Mind's Eye now, I could see,
my dear friends Squatch and Lucky Lady,
sleeping in the warmth
of Bigfoot Hall.

Then in my mind, changed was the scene
and I did see dear Destiny,
and felt old Snowpaw's namesake
on my knee.

" You like her, doncha? " puffed the cat.
" and I mean ‘LIKE her-LIKE her', just like that."
Then I knew the tabby still
had senses keen.

‘ How'd you know ‘bout Destiny? ‘
‘ Tell me, can my thoughts be seen?'
I asked the smoking tabby
as she sat.

" No, but when me think, they smell,
and from your scent, well I can tell,
that your thoughts had turned again,
to Destiny."

‘Hey! No fair!' I complained. ‘ You cheat!'
" Yuppers! " said Snowpaw, smiling sweet.
And all at once I felt
like a canary.

‘ You won't tell " I asked or begged.
" For a price. " she said and licked her leg.
" Let me stay here for a spell
as ‘ Favored cat ‘!"

‘ DONE!' I cried and grabbed the tabby
I hugged her tight, which made her crabby,
but she got over it and
purred upon my lap.

" The question shouldn't be...'Why are we here?' but rather 'ARE we here? "

Solstice, I am going to print these out so I can find them easy and read them often...that is if it is all right with you? I love the "pictures" I get with your words. A pipe smoking cat!!!! Who would have thought, ME
