Bald Eagles, Late in the year, we always make A trip out to the frosty lake, To watch bald eagles gather there. These feathered monarchs of the air. They soar and dive.They often rise With claws around a piscine prize. Then off they fly to some tall tree To dine upon a kokanee. They are a yearly vistor And only stay a month or more. They fascinate us and we stay Too long into the winter day, Until the cold seeps through our clothes And nips our fingers and each nose.
