My Wishes For You

This holiday season my wishes for you
Are loved ones and friends who are near you and true
A hand written Christmas card, greetings they speak
Of joy for your Christmas, a kiss on the cheek

I wish you glad tidings, the light in your eye
Remembering the message of angels on high
The little Babe wrapped in a soft manger bed
I wish lots of cookies with glitters of red

I wish you a star in the heavenly night
A star that shines down as the one shone that night
That led kings an shepherds to follow it’s way
I wish you a Santa Clause, reindeer and sleigh

I pray that the hymns of the Savior’s sweet birth
Filter down from the heavens and cover the earth
Filling your senses with wonder and grace
I wish you a crystal of snow on your face

May this Christmas season bring gathering of those
Whose love you have nourished, whose tenants you’ve chose
A home with their joy and their laughter replete
I wish you a peppermint candy cane treat

May your home be as warm as the love in your heart
May the spirit of Christmas not ever depart
I wish you a present, some chocolates and pie
And a poem filled with wishes from one such as I

May your pen scroll the beauty, Your heart scroll the phrase
That will stay in my memory all of my days
Please write me a sonnet this season of glee
And place it on Christmas Eve under my tree
