The dark is so mysterious.
A pale moon hides from sight,
Behind a bank of ragged clouds
That wander through the night.
The wind is blowing fitfully.
It grows and then it dies.
I hear it rustle round the trees
And utter gusty sighs.
The air is full of stealthy sound
I can't identify,
While now and then I see a group
Of strange shapes cross the sky.
The water's dark as ebony.
It's polished face reveals
No hint of the inhabitants
It's murky depth conceals.
The endless sky is fathomless
And stretches over all
And while I gaze up pensively,
I see a lost star fall.

lovely rhyme and flow....such a feeling of the wonder of a falling star and the mystery of night!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Only there for mere moments while it falls forever lost.

What a lovely write....
