Woodland Cousins From my verandah, I can see Our horses grazing leisurely And as I watch, three deer come out Of nearby woods and look about. They start to nibble here and there. I know the horses are aware, But they don't feel they must compete, Though others share the food they eat. They move together quietly. The view is peaceful as can be. Perhaps they look upon the deer As woodland cousins. I can hear A nickering that seems to say "We're glad that you could come today." The deer and horses look serene. It is an Edenistic scene! Thank you everyone for your comments. It was a very serene view and I'm glad that came through in the poem. Betty Lou Hebert |

Peaceful pastoral scene. How nice that these gentle creatures can interact. Joyce |

Thanks Joyce. Right now we have a doe and twin fawns coming in every evening to browse in the raspberry patch. What a treat to see them so unafraid. Betty Lou Hebert |
