Is all that is the way that it must be, Inevitably fixed before our time? Are we but puppets, forced by God's decree To work out each heroic deed or crime? Or is our destiny set all by choice, Decided by each thing we do or say? Do we, in all that happens, have a voice To change the course of life from day to day? Perhaps the answer's somewhere in between, An integration of our works and fate, Combining in some way as yet unseen The plan of old and things we've done of late. Oh was I meant to know you before birth Or was our meeting engineered on earth? |

An age-old question, Marilyn...I sort of tend to believe that it is a combination of both...like many things that we can't understand...our minds are too finite to comprehend certain things. Fantastic poem! Pefect flow, perfect rhyme, perfect sonnet! |

I can't answer these ponderings. But, I believe everyone has an opinion of your extreme Cosmic Questions. Very well presented. Melton |

Good poem. I do not think our fate is pre-destined, and we have some control. but sometimes things just happen. Joyce |

Oh was I meant to know you before birth Or was our meeting engineered on earth? alot of pondering there, I guess only time can answer those questions and maybe then somethings are probably better as a mystery. thanks for kicking my brain into action with your well written poetic ponderings. Good poem and certainly thought provoking. I have always felt we had some choice in what happens to us. No one really knows I guess. Betty Lou Hebert |

wonderfully written ponderings, Marilyn. Here's how I see it...Once my will is turned over to wanting only God's will in my life, then all that happens is encased in the peace of knowing He's in charge and I'm safe! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

I don't know the answer to all your questions but I do think you were born to write sonnets. |
