No Longer in Service

Disconnected
like an old telephone number
no longer useful to it’s owner
thrust back into the limbo
of unwanted digits
floating aimlessly
in a sea of circuits
and computer chips, waiting
to be rediscovered
numb
disenfranchised
alone among the beeps
and taps of mindless repetition
traveling the endless wires
to infinity
to nothingness
ignored by other useful codes
waiting
waiting
waiting
for the call
that sets me free
to be reborn again
to be useful
to live in the world again
to be loved again
Beep
Hello?

I'm still hearing the sounds of telephone circuitry in my head. Your poem was an emotional analogy that caused within me a sympathetic longing of which was soothed very creatively at the end with Hello? Enjoyed reading.
