One dream is all I have
One wish to set me free
Alone I gaze and begin to ponder
How alone I will be?

In my mind is a paradise
Filled with excitement and joy
You can feel the innocent love
Of a rambunctious energetic young boy

But the world around me is not so
It is an illusion in my mind
Because I think they must know it too
Happiness is what we want to find

So we dance, we sing and we shout in joy
To the pleasure of being alive
To taste every drop of life
Is to what we all do strive

Why is it then, when engulfed in friends
Do I suffer misery alone?
My dream of paradise is so close
To the jubilation my friends have shown

Confused and lost, there is no connection
Between the two lives I know
I use each to escape the other
Contradiction is what I show

The cynic says to take it all in
To live life with pleasure and lust
The romantic tells me to let it go
Things happen as they must

So with the flip of a coin I choose my mood
For how I will feel that day
Too bad my emotions depend
On what my friends have to say

We are born alone, we die alone
In between are periods of rest
In order to get the most from my life
I must find a balance that is best

One where I can grow into
The respectable person I desire to be
Yet still live with pleasure and passion
Let this mortal life set my spirit free

There we will not be alone

Unorthodox mabey, but I grow on you.

There is a lot of good thought in this offering. I have lived a lot longer than you and I have found that though we may have lots of loved ones and friends we still spend a great deal of or time alone and must learn to be the kind of person we would want for our best friend.
