I know I could have loved you
If you hadn't been so young.
We missed each other by a year or two.
I haven't thought about those days
For quite a long, long while.
Today I'm wondering if you ever do.

We each went on with others
And I've had a happy life.
I hope your love was everything you needed.
Now we're right back where we started
As we've each been left alone
And the distance once between us has receded.

The rules we lived by in those days
No longer seem to matter.
No law says that the man must be the older.
We have reached the age of reason
And can do just as we please
And my head still feels the same upon your shoulder.

I find myself hoping that this is a true page of life for you~

'my head still feels the same upon your shoulder'

Oh ... I hope it is, for this is hauntingly lovely~

No Honey, not now I'm afraid, but both my husbands were a couple of years younger than I and I was always embarrassed by the fact.

Ohhhh!  this makes me blink back tears.  It is such a lovely read, but there is so much wist, too.  These are the first love kind of stories which turn me to mush!     I recall....

Hugs,
Karen
