Hogmanay

Someone goes into the recesses
And pulls an old friend out;
A voice that once graced these pages, but
Is no longer about.

We see her name and give a cheer
Then find they're her words from another year;
Words that are still as strong and true
As when first read, so fresh and new.

Where has she gone and the others who
Were part of our poetic stew?
What a lovely gift on this Hogmanay
To discover her poem from another day.
