I belong to the twilight of winter

the last rays of a subtle farewell

the settling of an ethereal mist.
I dwell in the hoar-frosted lanes

crisp grass and iced berry bushes

within the starkness of every bald forest.
The Icy veneer of the evening pond

reflecting a fragile rose sunset

Is where my dreams are begun.
In the space twixt moon and pale sun

I know the peace of winters gloom

embracing natures frigid beauty.
And I can feel the hardy heartbeat

of the duck on her bitter terrain

searching for supper and a cold nest.
I belong to the twilight of winter

as the silent snow softly descends

upon the smudged silhouette of the pine.
Twilight in winter is the pause of a tepid sun

as a white breath seeps into the night
