Chord of Light

Strange music from the atmosphere,
Is filtered downward to my ear.
Does an angel band somewhere
Play their harpsichords up there?
The fragile sounds seem filled with light.
Almost illuminate the night.
Do ice crystals, falling free,
Bring these lovely tones to me?

Or is it from some distant star
Traveling earthward from afar?
Whatever makes this magic sound,
I'm so glad I am around
To hear it and appreciate
The ironies of fickle Fate
That led me to this place and time,
To listen to this astral chime!

Dear Joyce: There is something magical about the country at night. The stars are so brilliant and there seems to be a hum in the air, you don't hear other places. You are right, the radio and TV numb us to the natural environment.
