The Force of Water

The waves that crash into the shore,
Have traveled many miles before
They spend themselves against the land
And leave foam trails upon the sand.
They carry in the flotsam of
The oceanic world I love.

The shells and sea-glass, fishing floats
That may have parted from their boats
Long years ago and stayed at sea,
In vagrant currents, endlessly,
Until some quirk of time and tide,
Selects one and begins to guide
To where it will be left behind,
For someone else, like me, to find.

The force of water is profound.
It changes all the cliffs around
And over years, we've come to see
How powerful these waves can be.
Relentlessly, no turning back,
Each day reveals a new attack
And after watching fifty years,
The beach I knew, just disappears!

Yes, the force of water is incredible. Many of our beaches that I used to collect treasures from when I was a child...just no longer are there! Very much enjoyed this write. hugs, Chris

BettyLou~
My friend ... you write the water's swell
sooooo well~

The water changing
rearranging
all that comes to lay
upon the shore of evermore
new scenes found
in rippled ground~

Now look at you ... you inspirational little poet you ~~
Thank you~

Nightshade:  That's what happened to me too!
One beach I hadn't visited for 50 years was completely gone and the waves were crashing on the cliffs, that used to be behind it.
Thanks!
