Dark Hawk Upon the morning airs that rise, Far overhead, a dark hawk flies. I watch it hover, wondering, What fluke of nature chanced to bring This winged sentinel to my place And though I cannot see his face, I feel those piercing eyes must be, Both watching and aware of me! He seems imprinted on the sky. An omen, waiting there on high. But as I peer, he drifts away And I go on about my day. Much later, when I go outside, A shadow passes in a glide. I see he's back, far overhead. The sun is shining on his head. What can it be that keeps him here, Within the autumn of the year? Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Joyce: I was surprised to see this hawk so late in the year, as they mostly have gone to southern climes by now. I always enjoy seeing them. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

I'm guessing he's hungry Betty.. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Dear Marge: I love raptors, as well as all other kinds of natural life. It was a strange thing about this hawk as he hung around most of the day and I never did see him dive on anything. It was as though he was just watching our place! Ronnie says "hi"/ Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |
